A client approached HighDesigns with a request to refine an existing programme cover. The objective wasn't to redesign it from scratch, but to elevate the layout and give it a cleaner, more professional finish within a tight deadline.
To achieve a seamless blend between the portrait and the background, AI-assisted editing became part of the initial workflow. At first glance, the result appeared convincing. The composition looked balanced, the lighting was improved, and the overall presentation felt stronger.
During the final quality review, however, a different picture emerged.
Subtle distortions had appeared in the subject's facial features—artifacts introduced during the AI editing process that weren't immediately obvious but became impossible to ignore once viewed at full resolution.
For an event of this significance, preserving the integrity of the photograph mattered more than saving a few minutes in production.

Rather than trying to repair the AI-generated imperfections, the design was rebuilt using the original photograph.
Every refinement was completed manually—from masking and compositing to lighting adjustments and edge blending. While the process required more time, it ensured complete creative control and protected the authenticity of the final image.
The finished design looked cleaner, more natural, and most importantly, remained faithful to the original subject.

Artificial intelligence has become an invaluable creative assistant, but it should never replace professional judgement.
Its greatest value lies in accelerating repetitive tasks and generating ideas—not making final creative decisions on behalf of the designer.
The strongest creative work still depends on experience, attention to detail, and knowing when technology should support the process rather than lead it.
Sometimes the fastest solution isn't the best solution.

AI can accelerate a workflow, but craftsmanship determines the outcome.
Professional judgement is what transforms a technically good design into work that feels intentional, authentic, and worthy of the people it represents.
